My name is Ray Power. I'm an irish designer/maker based in Valencia, Spain. But before you turn back to the shop let me tell you there is information on discounts at the bottom of this text.
I am very excited to present to you the beginnig of a small on-line shop where I make available a collection of handmade designs and batch productions of all original creations. My design approach has always been led by a goal to create a narrative between materials and compostion. I'm starting off with a collection of handmade, yet very geometric, wall mounted paper sculptures called Birdman. These are paper sculptures that are already assembled yet they will arrive to you flat. Much like a pop-up card, simply stretch them into shape then insert the support bar for hanging and it's done.
Somehow Birdman, being made of paper seems to be a fitting collection with which to start up a virtual store in these times of crises and confinement. Whatever about trying to find the right message to keep consumers happy to consum. Birdman, with its frailty seems to have come down from the mountain to tell us, to remind us, we are only passing through this world. If we don't care for things they won't last. But if we stop and think and care we can make things last a very long time.
